Gigawit Overview
Within the ubiquitous discussion about the future of e-publishing, Gigawit.com offers the first resource for timely humor in the radically changing world of reading and writing digitally. Gigawit aims to level the playing field for authors by granting them greater equity and power in the writing process. In an aggressive response to the cold utilitarianism of "geek speak," Gigawit presents the hilarious and unprecedented THE GIGAWIT DICTIONARY OF THE E-NGLISH LANGUAGE, (Published by Gigawit; August 15, 2000; Trade Paperback; $12.95; 112 pages). Compiled by Tony Hendra, this book is the first product of its kind. A flesh and blood manifesto against the arrogance of techno-heads everywhere, the dictionary is a collection of gut-busting, satirical definitions of Internet terms. Like all of Gigawit's future projects, this book is only the first sentence in an ongoing conversation between itself and future contributors. Budding authors who visit the site have the opportunity to add to this ongoing dialogue of current Internet jargon. Works by Al Franken and Joe Queenan are already in the pipeline, as is a Campaign 2004 Guide by a consortium of other political humorists.
